Working and Student Parent annual programme of 12 monthly and 9 holiday f amily activities 24-25.

To give parents who work (including volunteer work), or/and study, accessible and f ree local family bonding and socialisation opportunities with their children or those they care f or. This grant will underpin the costs of a programme of monthly and holiday activities f or f amilies in the North- East f or April 2024 to March 2025. We want to address inequality in f amily socialisation opportunities that currently exists f or working and student parents, especially with the ongoing cost of living crisis and heightened f uel prices. Current costs of regular f amily activities and the income deprivation experienced by such f amilies in the North- East (SIMD 2020) mean children miss out on the benef its of experiencing regular planned f amily activities. We have created a draf t programme o f 12 f ree monthly f amily activities and 9 weekly activities during the three school holiday periods. These are tailored to meet the needs of parents who work and/or study and will include Friday evenings and weekend events and be f ree to f amilies. The range of activities will include a balance of f ree very local activities designed and ran by local parent volunteers and supported/f unded by Discoverin Families staf f and resources. We will access f ree local outdoor space and community venues.
