Fintry Community Larder

Simply, to keep the larder running for local people who suffer from food insecurity. We have been extremely grateful for the weekly food obtained through Dundee City Council, funded by the Scottish Government & delivered by Alexander Community Development. However, this funding stops 31st March 2023 thus we will no longer receive this food. Therefore, £1002 of this grant money will allow us to buy essential items. In addition, after a successful trial we now have a tea & toast café for larder members before the larder. While this has multiple benefits including increasing social connections, providing a warm space & access to hot food and drinks. The introduction of the café has also seen the length of time people are waiting in the que decrease. However, while members are queuing outside, it can be cold. Therefore, we would like to purchase commercial hot water flasks and thermal mugs for larder members. Members can make tea or coffee on the way out of the café and can enjoy while standing in the que. This option avoids us using multiple single use cups each week.
