Holiday Activities 2023-2024 - To offer a variety of activities throughout the coming year during school holidays at Easter, Summer, October & Christmas.

Following on from the successful holiday programme in 2022-2023 thanks to the Coldside Community Regeneration Forums funding we would like to offer a variety of activities throughout the coming year during school holidays at Easter, Summer, October & Christmas.

The young people have come up with various activities & venues they’d like to go e.g M&D’s , Craigtoun Park ,Wildshore ,Blair Drummond Safari Park, footgolf, cinema, zorb football, swimming, Ancrum day trips etc.

We also have a children’s club & a Young Parents group where they come along with their children. Both groups meet in Hilltown Community Centre and they are keen to take part in various activities with food provided. The young parents & their children would be involved in some of the full day trips e.g to Craigtoun Park, Blair Drummond Safari Park etc however they would also like activities more suited to their age groups ranging from under 5’s- primary aged children.  The children’s club would like to visit places of interest in Dundee & one outwith during their summer programme.  We would travel to the venues outside Dundee by coach & to local venues on DCC hired minibuses or using public transport.

Given the current cost of living crisis & food poverty, during all the trips we would like to provide food for the young people/parents to include a variety of picnic type food as well as fruit, snacks, juice & water. Also where possible opportunities to eat as a group in restaurants.

We ran a successful Tasty Teas programme whereby parents were given slow cookers, food & recipes to cook & eat as a family. They were given enough ingredients to provide 3 meals/week. We would like to be able to offer this to other families who could benefit & are struggling due to the increase in the cost of living.
