Proposal for new Youth Work activities in Maryfield
As a team we are hoping to extend the activities offered by the Central Youth Team to young people living in the Maryfield area. We hope to do this by: • We are planning to start a new drop-in Group at Arthurstone Library for P7’s to support transition into wider youth work opportunities.
• Morgan Academy have now given the Central Youth Team its own dedicated space within the school as a CLD Hub. We hope that this will be a safe and welcoming space for young people to visit and we can offer a comfortable space for one-to-one work and small groupwork to pupils living and learning in Maryfield.
• We are planning to start a new girls group aimed at young Asian/Muslim girls living in the local community. It is hoped that this will be a safe space where young women can come to, to spend time with their friends, make new friends, support each other with their learning and to make connections in their local community. This will be a drop-in group. We have found that a lot of Asian/Muslim young women are often not allowed to attend youth work activities. We are aiming to run the group in Morgans the schools Café.
• We are also hoping to run drop-in taster youth work session throughout the year. These sessions will be universal offer and open to all young people living in the local community. These will predominantly run during school holidays or in-service days, depending on venue availability. It is hoped that youth work activities will reach a wider audience or our existing young people can bring their friends to experience youth work activities
